im comes to Boston in in march & was browsing other websites when i came throughout a funny write-up saying "you know your from Boston when...."

1 friend know exactly how to pronounce the name of towns prefer Worcester, Billerica, Haverhill, Barre and Cotuit.

You are watching: Park the car in harvard yard

How perform you pronounce these?

2 You understand that there space two Bulger brothers, and that they're both crooks.

Who space they?!

3 You understand what they offer at a packie.

Please tell?!

4 You can recognize a girl native Revere merely by her hair.

Ha ha! How?

5 when ordering a tonic, you median a Coke...not quinine water.

Really? therefore if ns order a vodka tonic i'll gain a vodka coke?

6 and also lastly, do people really ask you to say "park the vehicle at Harvard Yard" just to hear her accent?

I get people asking me to say "theres to be a murder" from the TV present Taggart which shows right here in the UK, just so they have the right to hear my accent too!

Caroline

Hi, This might help you out...

Getting around Boston:

Pay no fist to the street names. There's no college on school Street, no court on Court Street, no dock top top Dock Square, no water on Water Street.

Back Bay roads are in alphabet odda: Arlington, Berkeley, Clarendon, Dartmouth. Therefore are southern Boston streets: A, B, C, D.

If the roadways are called after trees (e.g. Walnut, Chestnut, Cedar), you're on Beacon Hill. If they're named after poets, you're in Wellesley.

Southie is southern Boston. The South finish is the south End. Eastie is east Boston. The North finish is eastern of the West End. The West End and Scollay Square are no more, a man named Rappaport removed them one night.

Scrod is everything they tell friend it is, generally fish. If you paid an ext than $6/pound, you gained scrod

The secret train is no a subway. It's the "T" and it doesn't operation all night

You always "bang a left" as quickly as the light transforms green, and also oncoming traffic always expects it
